How to be Confident in the Bedroom

Building sexual confidence is easier said than done. Your first time is always nerve-wracking and full of awkwardness. Your first time being with a new partner can be just as nerve-wracking. It honestly takes a while for your confidence to kick in and for you to start swinging on chandeliers. As people we are afraid of little things like biting our partner in a sensitive area, ejaculating too soon or your vagina making fart noises. These are some of the things that get in the way of us being confident in the bedroom.

The first step to building confidence in the bedroom is being honest with yourself. You need to be honest about what you are comfortable doing and what you are not comfortable doing. You must tell your partner what you are willing to try and what is a definite no for you.

Another way to help yourself build your confidence is to get to know yourself on a more intimate level. You must try looking at your naked body in the mirror and get used to how it looks. Taking pictures of yourself for you to look at will also help you understand how your body looks and how your partner perceives it. Touch yourself! The only way to feel comfortable and confident when your partner is touching certain parts of your body is that you learn to do that to yourself first. Lie down on your bed or the floor and touch those parts that are sensitive to you. Feeling them out and enjoying yourself will be a confidence booster.

Be willing to safely try new sex interests. You know that challenging yourself to do something out of your comfort zone helps you build confidence. Well, it works the same way in building sexual confidence. You must be willing to try new things in order to be more confident in the bedroom. If you and your partner always have sex on the bed. Try having sex on the floor or a couch. If you and your partner always have sex in the same position. Read up on Kama Sutra and explore new positions safely. The more things you explore and enjoy, the more you will become confident in what you are doing.

Sometimes insecurities get in the way of you being in the mood to have sex. So, you should investigate doing things that will help you get in the mood. This could be you listening to your favourite sensual R&B songs, visualising what you would like to do to your partner or what you would like them to do to you. Another option is watching a sex scene from a film or series with your partner or watching porn together. Being exposed to such visuals will help both of you get in the mood.

Lastly, communicating openly with your partner will help you be confident. Being open about your sexuality and your interests will create a safe space for you where you will end up feeling confident.
